MDI has provided Solid Waste Collection and Recycling to the United States Army at Fort Benning, GA from 1997 to 2003, and is currently in the second year of a new contract awarded in June 2007. Mark Dunning Industries also operated the Fort Benning landfill in a previous contract. Ft. Benning is home to over 30,000 Military personnel, over 9000 civilian personnel, more than 10,000 residents in Army Family Housing, and covers more than 180,000 acres.

NAVY
NCBC Gulfport and Stennis Space Center and Outlying Areas
MDI has provided Integrated Solid Waste Management to the United States Navy at the Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport, Stennis Space Center, and surrounding areas since January of 2018 to Present. NCBC mission is to maintain and operate facilities and provide services and material in support of Naval Construction Force Units. NCBC Gulfport and Stennis Space Center are home to over 4,200 military personnel, more than 1,000 civilian personnel, and more than 6,400 national guard, retirees, and family members.
Specific services MDI performs include:
- Scheduled collection of 4, 6 and 8 CY refuse containers.
- On-call collection of 20, 30 and 40 CY roll-off containers.
- Unscheduled 30 and 40 CY scrap metal collection.
- Support for additional activities such as inspection installation clean-ups, morale welfare, and recreational functions.
Kings Bay Submarine Base - Kings Bay, GA
MDI has been providing Roads and Grounds Maintenance, and Refuse Collection services to the United States Navy at Kings Bay, GA under subcontract since 1991, and is currently operating under its third contract. Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base is home to over 5,000 military and 2,000 civilian personnel, and more than 1,500 contract personnel. There are more than 3,000 residents in Navy Family housing.
Waste Management
Specific refuse services MDI has been providing to Kings Bay include the following:
- Scheduled collection of eight cubic containers throughout the installation.
- Scheduled collection of forty cubic-yard and thirty cubic yard containers throughout the installation and scheduled collection of metal containers for recycling.
- Complete support for wartime and security movements as required by the events of September 11th.
- Support for additional activities such as installation clean-ups and Morale Welfare, and Recreational functions.
Roads and Grounds Maintenance
MDI’s duties include the following:
Grass cutting, edging, tree pruning and cutting, planting, mulching, maintenance of flower and shrub beds, leaf collection, sodding, debris removal, pesticide application, fertilizing, litter pickup, street sweeping, irrigation maintenance and control, and operation of an inert landfill.
Integrated Pest Control
Mark Dunning Industries has been performing Integrated Pest Control Services to the United State Navy at Kingsbay Naval Submarine Base since 2007. The base consists of more than 16,000 acres, lying between the St. Marys and Crooked Rivers, on Kings Bay, an arm of Cumberland Sound.
MDI’s Pest Control operations include:
Miscellaneous Arthropod Pest Control, Cockroach Control, Controlling the Infestation of Bees, wasps, hornets, etc., Adult Mosquito Control, Rodent Control, Weed Control including Aquatic Plants, and Controlling Wood Destroying Organisms.
NAS Pensacola, Whiting Field Naval Air Station, and Outlying Areas
MDI has provided Integrated Solid Waste Management to the United States Navy under contract at NAS Pensacola, Corey Field, Saufley Field, NOLFs, and NAS Whiting Field since April of 2014. MDI previously held this contract for 15 years from 1984-1999. NAS Pensacola and NAS Whiting Field is home to over 14,000 military personnel, and covers more than 30 square miles.
Specific services MDI has been providing to NAS Pensacola, Whiting Field and NOLFs include:
- Scheduled collection of 4, 6 and 8 CY Front Load Refuse containers throughout the installation.

NAS Corpus Christi and NAS Kingsville is home to over 3,200 military personnel, more than 5,300 civilian personnel, and more than 59,000 national guard, retirees, and family members.

MDI has provided Solid Waste Collection and Recycling to the United States Air Force under contract at Kirtland AFB, NM since 2011. Kirtland is home to over 3,500 military personnel, over 2,000 civilians, more than 1000 residences in Military Family Housing, and covers more than 52,000 acres.

MDI has provided Integrated Solid Waste Management to the United States Air Force under subcontract at Keesler Air Force Base since October of 2010, and was awarded a follow-on contract as the prime contractor in 2015. Keesler Air Force Base is home to over 5,000 military personnel, more than 1500 civilian personnel, and more than 1000 contract personnel. In addition there are more than 600 residents in the Air Force Family Housing.
Specific duties that MDI performs include:
- Scheduled collection of 8 CY refuse and 8 CY cardboard containers.
- On-call collection of 40 CY containers and 30 CY containers, and compactors.
- Scheduled collection of ninety-five gallon recycle bins from installation facilities.

FLETC at GLYNCO – Glynco, GA
MDI has provided Solid Waste Collection to the United States Department of homeland Security under contract at GLYNCO, since FY2000. GLYNCO is situated on 1,600 acres in southeast Georgia with modern conventional facilities such as classrooms, dormitories, and administrative and logistical support structures, including a dining hall capable of serving more than 4,000 meals per day. Additionally, GLYNCO has 18 firearms ranges, including a state-of-the-art indoor range complex with 146 separate firing points; and eight highly versatile semi-enclosed ranges with 200 additional firing points. Other training assets include a sprawling complex of driver training ranges, a physical techniques facility, explosives range, fully functional mock port of entry, and numerous other structures which support the entire training effort.

Eglin Air Force Base is home to over 10,000 military personnel, more than 8,500 civilian personnel, and more than 2,500 contract personnel. Eglin AFB covers 464,000 acres, spreading over 725 square miles. Hurlburt Field is home to over 8,200 military personnel, more than 1,800 civilian personnel, and more than 2,200 contract personnel. Hurlburt Field covers 6,700 acres.
